After all those years, decided to book a tour with Visit Flanders Fields and we were not left disappointed. The tour started on a perfect autumn day, where nature gave color to the places we visited. Early on tour guide Niels did a stunning job. In the car, spacious and pleasant to sit in, Niels offered an introduction on the World War and had planned the ideal route. On the first cemetery he used his tablet to show images of the past, talking passionately about solders such as the famous Red Baron, also answering any question our group had. After a few stops, we visited Tyne Cot on the ideal moment, where there was time for a sanitary pit stop. After a lunch break, during Niels showed us some grenades and weapons who were used (and how they were used) during the war, we moved on to Hill 60, that took our breath away. Such beautiful place where nature has taken over again after horrible actions from the past. Tour guide Niels planned each and every stop in an ideal way where nobody's left bored, but intrigued time and time again. We even got to visit the smalles city of Belgium, called Mesen, with an interesting church we could climb and have a nice view, a free museum where Niels offered interesting details and a nice local pub. After a final visit of one of the last intact remaining trenches and some beautiful views of the surroundings, the tour ended in the evening (after we had a lovely dinner) with the famous Last Post. A moment of silence to remember and pay our respects. We could not have had a better day and tour. Lest we forget.Posted on TimTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Visiting Flanders Fields with Niels as our guide was truly an lastingexperience . His deep knowledge, respectful storytelling, and ability to connect past events to present-day realities left a lasting impression. It was eye-opening to see how the First World War unfolded — not just through facts and dates, but through the human stories and the subtle signals that led to such a global conflict. Niels brought history to life in a way that was both educational and emotionally impactful. At times, it was even unsettling to realize how some of the patterns from the past seem to echo in today’s world. His insights encouraged reflection and dialogue, making the experience far more than just a historical tour — it was a journey into understanding the consequences of conflict and the importance of remembrance. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a meaningful and well-guided exploration of one of history’s most significant chapters.Posted on Sheila LafaveTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What a fabulous and informative day we experienced today with Niels as our guide to the Flanders Fields battle sites including Ypres and Passendaele. Niels was personable and knowledgeable on the subject, spoke clearly and guided us throughout the day without rushing. We liked the props and pictures he used to enhance the experience. He drove expertly in the van that was comfortable for all four of us. From beautiful, quaint villages to heartbreaking cemeteries, it was an experience we will never forget. Thanks Niels. What a great idea to hire Niels on our trip to Belgium. The visit to Flanders Fields was the best part of our trip. We managed to see several sightseeings, hearing a great explanation about the WW1 by Niels. The pace was great and the tour was very entertaining. We were able to touch and hold real guns and weapons used during the war. We have visited cemeteries, memorials and trenches of the WW1. Niels showed himself to be very polite, patient, attentious and caring for the needs of the group. I will recommend this tour to my friends.Posted on Sven VervyncktTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an amazing day with Niels on the Ypres World War I tour. The tour was incredibly informative — Niels was very knowledgeable and could answer almost every question we had. He took us to several fascinating sites, including cemeteries, preserved trenches, battlefields, a village where major battles took place, and even a bell tower. The pacing of the day was perfect. We never had to walk far, and since all transport was provided by van from the centre of Bruges, it was super convenient — even with a baby, everything went smoothly. We had plenty of time to relax, enjoy a drink, and take in the atmosphere without ever feeling rushed. The tour ended beautifully with a lovely dinner and the moving "Last Post" ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres. It was excellent value for money, and we’re so glad transport from Bruges was included — otherwise, we might have missed out on such an important and memorable piece of history. Highly recommended for anyone staying in Bruges who wants to experience the history of Ypres in a comfortable and meaningful way!Posted on Anna RauscherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
